Job Title/Role: Accessibility Assistant
Place of Work: Team Love Office, St Werburghs, Bristol, BS2 9PG
with onsite work at Love Saves the Day, Ashton Court, BS41 9JN, and FORWARDS Festival at The Downs, Bristol, BS9 1FG.
Hours: Generally 8-10 hour days between hours of 8am-8pm, but please note that shifts may be longer and extend beyond 8pm on live show days (see Other Information section for more details). Drafted rota will be discussed with the successful candidate at least 4 weeks prior to start date.
On-Site Dates: Love Saves the Day: Wednesday 21st, Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th May 2025
Forwards: Wednesday 20th, Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th August 2025
(Plus potential extra onsite work offered for w/c 23rd June 2025 - these dates are yet to be confirmed and this extra work will be subject to the successful candidate’s availability.)
Rate of Pay: £12.60 per hour
Start Date: Wednesday 21st May 2025, with training taking place in April/ earlyMay

About The Roles
We are looking for 3 Accessibility Assistants to join our team during the busy festival season for Team Love events Love Saves The Day and Forwards Festival (with the potential of more work at other events for the right candidates). The Accessibility Team makes sure that customers with access needs or disabilities have a smooth and enjoyable experience at our events. You will learn how to manage accessibility viewing areas, help with customer service, and ensure a welcoming environment for all attendees.
This job requires positive people who are good at problem-solving, have strong communication skills, experience working with customers, and a genuine passion for improving accessibility, no matter the weather!
Key Responsibilities
Administration Tasks:
- Respond to emails and phone calls for accessibility queries.
- Support the Accessibility Manager to send out information packs to customers.
- Create and share signage for accessibility areas.
- Organise information and print lists for the car park steward team and make sure that they know where to direct customers after they have parked.
- Schedule and supervise platform attendants and volunteers.
On-Site Practical Tasks:
- Set up accessible viewing platforms with furniture, signage and any other required equipment. Carry out checks of the area to ensure that the area meets safety standards and monitor capacity throughout the event.
- Fit locks on accessible toilets, check lighting and signage is in place.
- Set up temporary offices with furniture and equipment .
- Carry out checks and work with the Site Team to ensure all accessibility infrastructure is ready for use prior to gates opening and throughout live event days.
- Familiarise yourself with the layout of each festival site, particularly the position of all accessible facilities. You will be taken on a site tour on the first day you arrive at each site.
- Provide friendly support to customers, interacting with them in person to assist with queries and escalating issues if required.
- Working as part of the Info Point team with a particular focus on answering queries and supporting customers who have registered to use the accessible facilities.
- Working as part of the Accessibility Box Office Team. Welcoming customers to site and providing them with the passes they need to use the accessible facilities.
- Keep all accessible facilities clean and in good condition throughout each event.
- Use two way radios to talk to other members of the Accessibility Team and other festival staff.
- Provide daily updates on platform use and flag any issues with Supervisor.
- Pack up and store equipment at the end of each event.
- Support with Accessibility Enquiries from crew members and suppliers on site.
- If you hold a full UK driving license, you may be asked to drive a buggy whilst on site.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience using Excel, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
- Confident and positive communicator in person, on the phone, by email, and willing to be trained in using a two-way radio (if not already familiar).
- Comfortable working in busy, fast-paced environments.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of the importance of data protection and handling sensitive information confidentially, with a willingness to undertake further training in this area.
- Ability to work actively and solve problems under pressure.
- Previous experience in a similar role or able to demonstrate transferable skills.
- Awareness of accessibility needs and a friendly, understanding approach.
- Basic knowledge of the Social Model of Disability, Equality Act 2010, and the Attitude Is Everything Live Events Charter (or a willingness to undertake training to learn about them).
Desirable:
- Experience in event operations, accessibility management, or customer service.
- Familiarity with software often used for event management (eg. Eventree, Festival Pro, Jotform, etc.) or transferable skills from using other Computer systems or programmes
- Some experience of health & safety checks and protocols.

- Practical and experienced in using hand tools.

Role Specific Information
Travel to and from Site - Transport and logistics will be discussed prior to the commencement of the placement and planning support will be provided if required. The Bristol festival sites are accessible by public transport and on event days, we run a free crew bus service.
Onsite Accommodation - n/a for Bristol shows - you will not be required to stay on site overnight. For extra work at other shows that do require overnight stays, you would be expected to camp in the crew area with access to backstage toilets and showers. Camping Kit can be loaned for use if required.
Meals Onsite - meals provided whilst on shift at festival sites.
Physical Description of Work - This role is a mixture of office based, and on site work at our events, with desk work, and some physically active work, involving some moving and lifting, required in both settings. A number of our events take place on greenfield sites and the role requires someone to move around independently and extensively.
Employment Type Info - This role is offered on a Freelance / Self Employed basis so you will need to invoice for payment and be responsible for your own tax and national insurance payments to HMRC.
