About the Role
We are looking to recruit two Duty Managers to support the General Manager with day-to-day operations and work towards the ongoing development of the St George Bowls and Social Club, situated in St George Park, Bristol (BS5).
These are varied and hands-on roles that would suit people who will take pride in providing excellent standards, inclusive experiences and customer service for our members and other visitors to the Club. You will be responsible for supporting the smooth running of the Club. The ideal candidates will be proactive, and confident problem solvers in a live operational setting. They will have a genuine interest in building connections and providing a positive space for members of the local community.
Working closely with the General Manager, the successful candidates will help to shape the Club’s offer and the evolving program throughout the phased reopening, whilst contributing to the long-term vision of the Club as a social, creative and connection-focussed community hub.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the General Manager, Duty Managers will be responsible for the daily operations of the Club and its offerings, which will vary depending on the time of year.
The Duty Managers will handle day to day operations such as opening and closing the Club, greeting and serving members, answering queries, facilitating session briefings and ensuring bookings made both in person and online are handled efficiently. There will be a food and beverage offer in the Club, safe and legal provision of this to members and visitors alike will be key for these roles.
Duty Managers will have a responsibility for anyone that comes into the space so it is vital that they maintain a positive, safe and inclusive workplace and environment. Ensuring the Club is clean, tidy, organised and professional in its presentation is important. It will also be your responsibility to ensure that essential systems, processes and policies are adhered to when leading a shift. We are looking for people who are diligent and see things through to completion, whilst making sure that all visitors to the club have a positive experience. Responsibilities also include the flagging of any issues - particularly operational - to the General Manager and proactively looking for solutions.
As the Club is re-establishing itself in the local community and the programme of activity develops, we expect there to be opportunities for members of the team to utilise other skills and particular areas of interest to engage with local community groups, co-ordinate sessions and activities, and to creatively collaborate with the Club team to ensure the community is offered a varied, interesting and inclusive range of activities.
A collaborative approach to working with other members of the team is key and you will also be the main Point of Contact and hold responsibility for key suppliers, staff and stakeholders whilst on duty, so it is vital that you build strong and positive working relationships with them all too, ensuring that they have any information and updates required. Communication is key. As is a solid understanding of company policies and values in order to implement them through your work on this project.
